South Melbourne Market Dim Sims

Dim Sims are an Australian culinary invention.  A Chinese-inspired dumpling filled with meat and vegetables typically found in fish and chip stores across Australia.   The South Melbourne Market Dim Sims is one of the best places to taste these deep-fried and steamed oddities.

We arrive at the store just before closing and manage to snag the last few dim sims on offer.   After a bite, it becomes quite obvious that these would taste better fresh, and I found the casing slightly soft and soggy.  The meat is interesting - I'm not quite sure what it was maybe pork (I try not to think about it), but like most things which are good for you they're surprisingly moreish and taste even better doused in chilli and soy sauce.
